Newberry Consortium

The University of California at Davis is an institutional member of the Newberry Library Center for Renaissance Studies consortium. This means that we are part of a large group of universities with heavy research investments in Medieval, Early Modern and Eighteenth-Century studies. It also means that we have access to the vast wealth of research tools and subject librarian knowledge at the Newberry Library in Chicago, as well as having the ability to participate in programs or conduct research in the Newberry’s collections. Our website’s funding page offers more information on funding for Newberry programs.

For Graduate Students

In January, The Newberry runs a graduate student conference that is restricted to members of the consortium and a spot is guaranteed to at least one student from each university. The conference is a great place to present research, obtain feedback, and network. The Newberry also hosts one-day workshops for first-year and second-year graduate students. These workshops are offered on Fridays. In addition, the Newberry offers several seminars relating to various sub-fields in Renaissance Studies such as 18th Century, Milton, and History of the Book.
